Shooters and sports games were quite popular for PlayStation players during the holiday season, with the record-setting Arc Raiders ending its successful first year in the top spot of the PSN charts for December 2025 in the United States and Canada.
Not far from the relatively cheap extraction game are fellow shooters Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 at No. 3 and Grand Theft Auto 5 at No. 5, along with a cavalcade of sports titles that include NBA 2K26 at No. 2, Madden NFL 26 at No. 4, and EA Sports FC 26 at No. 6.
Faltering in the charts, however, is Battlefield 6, though it still remains in a respectable No. 8 spot on December’s list. Meanwhile, Marvel Cosmic Invasion, which launched at the beginning of December, is at No. 18, while Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora rides the wave from a new DLC expansion tying into the new Avatar film to land in the No. 14 position.
On the PlayStation 4 side, Red Dead Redemption 2 continues to dominate in both North America and the European Union, while Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare 2 (which is currently available at a steep discount on the PSN store) surprises by shooting up in the No. 3 spot. In the States, four different Five Nights at Freddy’s titles take up spots on the PS4 list.
Beat Saber was the most-played PS VR2 game last month, though the game is discontinuing support and online multiplayer this month. Finally, Fortnite ended up as the top free-to-play game in December, likely owing to its annual Winterfest festivities.
