Love Mac Studio but not Apple? The Beelink GTR9 Pro is the solution.

Published:

Beelink is a brand we’re starting to see in the world of mini-PCs. They’ve decided to pack the latest-generation PC hardware into a chassis that looks suspiciously like a Mac Studio. Their new GTR9 Pro features an AMD Ryzen AI Max+ 395 APU: 16 cores / 32 Zen 5 threads running at up to 5.10 GHz and a Radeon 8060S iGPU (2,560 SP, 2,900 MHz, RDNA 3). This graphics unit is claimed to be close to a GeForce RTX 3080 Laptop. Next, it features up to 128 GB LPDDR5X-8000, two M.2 NVMe PCIe 4.0 x4 slots (including a 2 TB 7,000 MB/s SSD pre-installed), and MSC 2.0 cooling combining aluminum radiators, copper heatpipes and dual fans, to keep the APU TDP down to 140 W.

Beelink GTR9 Pro: a muscular mini PC for designers?

The chassis measures 180 × 180 × 90.8 mm. On a positive note, this chassis includes an internal 230 W power supply, so no external wires or blocks. The launch price in China is CNY 7,999, or around €1,560 – a surprisingly low price for a system featuring the Ryzen AI Max+ 395 SoC. So we’ll be cautious on the subject. In any case, even with a price tag that would be 20 to 30% higher, this “mini Mac Studio” PC would be very competitive with Apple’s very spicy configurations in terms of price. Connectivity is also very flattering, with ports galore: 2 x 10 GbE network ports, two 40 Gbit/s USB 4.0, 10 Gbit/s USB-C and USB-A ports, and a headphone socket. Monitor connectivity includes two dedicated video outputs (DisplayPort 2.1 and HDMI 2.1). Wireless connectivity is also on the cards, thanks to a MediaTek MT7925 chip offering high-performance connectivity with Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4.Beelink GTR9 Pro

Two questions remain, however.

Firstly, the availability of this product outside China, and its actual price, whereas rumors point to a price cut for the AMD Ryzen AI Max+ 395 SoC. Finally, while aesthetics may appeal to fans of muscular mini PCs, it’s in operation that this Beelink GTR9 Pro will have to prove its worth. Silence and heat dissipation will be the two key issues.
