Last week, we had news of the Z890 Tachyon Ice via a post by HiCookie on Facebook. He indicated that the card was gradually starting to arrive in stores. This time, we have some concrete news, with a limited edition sold in Taiwan, all with the overclocker‘s signature. How much does it cost? Around €1,580, taking into account 5% Taiwanese VAT and 20% French VAT.
Z890 Tachyon Ice: ~€1580 with dedication!
Clearly, this card isn’t for everyone, not just because of its price but also because of its intended use. In fact, this is an XOC card, a model designed for extreme overclocking. As you can see, the layout of the connectors is unorthodox, with memory slots positioned horizontally above the CPU. Similarly, it has a number of on-board functions for the OC of the processor and RAM.
However, on the overclocking scene, this is an eagerly-awaited card, which will rival the Taichi OCF models from ASRock, Apex from ASUS and Unify-X from MSI… All cards with an impressive track record.
With this model, we find a card sold in a limited series with the signature of HiCookie, the famous overclocker who helped design this model. This reference can be found on Sinya.com which, in our case, displays an error… Perhaps it’s already sold out?
Unfortunately, the launch of the first batch has come a little late for the G.Skill OC World Cup. The first qualifying rounds end on March 19, which, between the shipping time, the time to get to grips with the map and master it, etc., is likely to make for some tight timing. What’s more, this Tachyon comes after all the other XOC cards… Although a limited quantity is already in the hands of experienced overclockers.
